At Hjort Knudsen we are constantly reconsidering our production processes, including in terms of environmentally friendly production. We appreciate that over the past 25 years, the EU has focused on limiting the discharge of dangerous substances, which has led to the chemical legislation REACH. We comply with the limit values in this legislation and also demand that our subcontractors do the same.
Less chrome
These provisions have contributed towards improvements in the production process of raw materials for our furniture. A good example of these improvements is that far less chrome is today used in the tanning of leather. Some leather types can now easily achieve a patina after being used for some time, and this can be seen as a ‘badge of honour’ for a more environmentally conscious manufacturing process.
